Princess Diana, some years ago, asked her lawyer, Anthony Julius, to act for her in her forthcoming divorce. Mr Julius, thus far a brilliant generalist, exclaimed: “Princess, this would be my first divorce!” “It would be my first, too”calmly and irresistibly whispered the Princess.

In no time Mr Julius acquired a formidable national and international reputation for skill, competence and rapier-like intelligence at divorce proceedings.

Passing from the prosaic to the poetic, when, in April 2009 I approached Mark at the Black Boy to stage our wedding luncheon, he too replied: “This would be our first wedding reception!” I may tell you that the Black Boy gave Pamela and me, and our guests - eighty in all - a memorable feast such as was widely commented upon by all present. I would add, I hope without sounding patrician, that a number of us present that day have sampled quite the finest the world has to offer. In short, we were all impressed and delighted. Grateful too, in testimony of which I give this endorsement to the Black Boy and its Team, under the leadership of Mark Bonner.

Nothing was excessive for the Black Boy team: they were prodigal in their ideas, and imaginative in their suggestions. Menus were composed, wines were chosen, seating arrangements settled, all in a span of a few weeks. Every offering was delivered on the day with the fluid ease of a practiced musician, seemingly effortlessly. On every table could be found testimony of imaginative touches and quintessential attention to detail.

Pamela and I, and our guests, would not hesitate to recommend the Black Boy for your wedding feast. The contribution of the Black Boy to making our day memorable and perfect I can only applaud, and would never forget. And reasonably priced they are - not an unimportant consideration.

"We had the most wonderful family lunch at the Black Boy to celebrate my daughter's confirmation.

The service was totally outstanding. From the care and interest shown in helping us put the menu together, to the attention to detail and courtesy during lunch itself. Nothing was too much trouble and everything came with a smile.

As for the food.....it was of an extremely high standard. Everyone at the lunch, and there were 14, commented on how much they had enjoyed their lunch. Everything was perfectly prepared, beautifully presented, and very very tasty.

"We chose The Black Boy, as the venue for our daughters' wedding reception, primarily because it was local for both home and the registry office, but we could not have dreamed that Kate and her team would turn it into something so very special.

We were greeted the moment we stepped over the threshold and the service didn't falter throughout.

The food was excellent and,not only a pleasure to eat but beautifully presented. Furthermore, and bearing in mind we did not have a set menu,we were all served at the same time.

The decor was excellent and the table decorations were lovely,so much attention to detail.
Our glasses were never left empty and the staff were super attentive, nothing was too much trouble,even to the extent of making hot chocolate for some of the younger, and very demanding, members of our party.

The champagne flowed and the cake arrived with aplomb, timing again to perfection.

We cannot praise this establishment too much and it will certainly be high on our recommendations list, give it a go, you won't be disappointed."
